VIDEO: First H135 with Pratt & Whitney engines delivered to German rescue organization ADAC

27 March 2015

German rescue organization ADAC today took delivery of its first H135 (formerly known as the EC135 T3/P3), becoming the launch customer for this helicopter model outfitted with Pratt & Whitney engines.

The helicopter will operate emergency medical services from the German town of Ingolstadt.

On the long-lasting successful cooperation between ADAC and Airbus Helicopters, ADAC President Dr. August Markl said in Donauwörth, "Airbus Helicopters has always been a reliable partner whose quick actions in cooperation with ADAC ensure a permanent air ambulance service."

The H135 saw its first delivery in October 2014 to Aiut Alpin Dolomites in Italy.

The H135 is an evolution of the former EC135 T2 and features improvements such as increased flight performance in high and hot environments, at sea level, during Category A missions, and in OEI (One Engine Inoperative) situations.

Enhancements also include an enlarged rotor, modified air intake, a modernized FADEC flight control software and new cockpit features. These measures dramatically improve flight performance, power reserves and safety margins.

The upgraded H135 is available with two upgraded engine options: Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PWC 206B3 and Turbomeca’s Arrius 2B2 Plus.

Airbus Helicopters has delivered nearly 1,200 H135s to customers around the globe, who have cumulatively logged more than 3 million flight hours. One-quarter of this total fleet is deployed for emergency medical services (EMS) duties.
