Last December, the French Armament Procurement Agency (DGA)
signed a contract with Eurocopter to supply the French Civil Defence
with five EC145s (three firm orders plus two options). With deliveries due to
commence in January 2009, these aircraft will replace the last six Alouette IIIs still
being operated by the French Civil Defence.
This contract will allow the French Civil Defence, the EC145 launch customer, to
complete its fleet of thirty EC145s.
Delivered between 2001 and 2005, these aircraft
have tallied up more than 60,000 flight hours. Used to carry out rescue, fire fighting,
emergency medical services (EMS), surveillance and law enforcement missions,
the EC145s are deployed at 22 Civil Defence bases in mainland France as well as
the French Overseas Departments and Territories.
