Having acquired all the remaining shares of McAlpine Helicopters Limited as of 1 November 2007, Eurocopter now has a wholly-owned subsidiary in the United Kingdom, in line with its strategy to be a multi-local player with its own infrastructures in all key markets. The UK represents one of Eurocopter’s main markets in Europe and the world, with a 73% market share in the police sector and in the EMS market, and a 50% share in the commercial/private sector. This success can largely be attributed to the know-how of McAlpine Helicopters, which has distributed Eurocopter products and provided the associated services for the past 30 years. A total of over 200 Eurocopter aircraft have been sold in the UK.
At present, Eurocopter UK has 169 employees. Plans to expand the company will involve stepping up sales and support activities in both the civil and military markets in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
